Jacqueline’s own training logs are posted here, from the two peak competition years of 1974 and 1975, including two world record marathons – the first sub 2:45 and first sub 2:40 in women’s running history. Also, here are the training workouts from 1978, in the year of her 50-mile national championship. These are just the facts. This is a sample of a key workout just prior to the 1975 NIKE-OTC Marathon, the one that Laszlo declared upon finishing, “You’re ready!”

PM: 2 ½ mile warm-up
15 x 100 (8 Medium / 7 Hard)
10 x 440 (3 Hard: #3= 73 sec., #6= 71, #9= 72)
2 ½ laps Easy
8 x 150 (2 Medium / 2 Hard)
5 laps Hard (4-lap-mile = 5:13)
8 x 150 (2 Medium / 1 Hard)
2 laps Easy
5 laps Hard (4-lap-mile = 5:17)
2 ½ laps Easy
